Pull your plan's Summary of Benefits and Coverage (SBC) or member portal details. Confirm prenatal visits, labor and delivery, anesthesia, and inpatient newborn care are covered at in-network facilities. If your plan has tiered hospitals, know your out-of-pocket exposure before you are in labor.
Washington paid leave — Washington Paid Family and Medical Leave (PFML): Washington's PFML provides up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave for bonding with a new child (up to 16 weeks if both parental and medical leave are used in the same year). Wage replacement is 90% for lower earners on a sliding scale, up to approximately $1,542/week. Covers nearly all workers (no employer size minimum). Self-employed individuals can opt in. Premium rate increased to 1.13% in 2026. Typical maximum duration (bonding / combined benefits): up to 12 weeks for relevant benefits (verify your situation).
